BOISE – The Idaho Conservation League (ICL) is pleased to welcome a new Communications Manager and two transitions into new positions in its Boise and Sandpoint offices.
In Boise, Abby Urbanek joins the organization as Communications Manager. Abby will help tell ICL’s unique story and connect Idahoans to ICL’s work protecting Idaho’s environment. She brings years of communications experience as an Emmy Award-nominated journalist and news producer.
Most recently, Abby worked for KTVB in Boise as the lead producer for the station’s morning newscast. Her passion for educating, empowering and mobilizing the public around issues in their communities combined with her experience in journalism attracted her to the position.
Abby is a graduate of Indiana University where she studied journalism and environmental science. Her lifelong love of the outdoors has fostered a passion for protecting wild spaces and the experiences they hold. She is excited to help contribute to ICL’s history of being Idaho’s leading voice for conservation.
Also helping to tell ICL’s story is Becca Rodack. Becca joined the ICL team in April 2021 as the North Idaho Community Engagement Assistant. She now shifts into the role of Communications and Engagement Assistant.
Becca holds a B.A. in communication from the University of Pittsburgh and brings years of communications and outreach experience from her work with the Women’s and Children’s Alliance and the Corpus Christi House, both in Boise.
Becca will continue to work in North Idaho in the Sandpoint office to engage supporters on local issues while also assisting with statewide communication efforts.
Another face you’ll see both on the trails and at ICL events is Rachel Brinkley.
Rachel joined the ICL team in May 2021 as a community organizer on the Salmon Mobilization Team. Rachel’s role transitioned in October as she took on a full-time role with ICL as the Community Engagement Assistant for the Treasure Valley and West Central Idaho.
Rachel holds both a B.S. and M.S. from Idaho State University where she studied ecology and conservation biology. She has previously worked for the U.S. Forest Service on the Middle Fork Ranger District of the Salmon-Challis National Forest.
As a fly fisherwoman and public lands enthusiast, Rachel is excited to help ICL continue to protect the best of Idaho while inspiring others to do the same.
