Jennifer Ekstrom

North Idaho Director

Jennifer joined ICL in 2022 to develop and lead the North Idaho Lakes Conservation Program. Now, she serves as ICL’s North Idaho Director. Jennifer brings more than two decades of experience working on environmental campaigns. Most relevant to Jennifer’s current position at ICL is her previous work as the founding executive director for Lake Pend Oreille Waterkeeper (LPOW), where she successfully campaigned to improve the State of Idaho’s practices regarding the application of herbicides to waterways. With ICL taking the reins of LPOW’s advocacy and water quality monitoring programs, Jennifer carries on that work and expands it to include the fight to protect more lakes in North Idaho. Her understanding of watersheds, the issues impacting them, and strategy to address those issues brings more experience to ICL’s robust team.

With a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from Eastern Washington University, Jennifer has a passion for using film and video to help conservation efforts succeed. Prior to joining ICL, she was the principal storyteller at Catalyst Communication Services, where she produced investigative films that amplify important voices on the front lines of critical environmental issues.
