Randy Fox
Public Lands Associate
Born and raised in Idaho, Randy spent many of his summer weeks prior to college camping and fishing in and around the North Fork of the Big Lost River and Sawtooth mountains. Randy moved to the Southwest to attend college, where he obtained his B.S. and M.A. in cultural resource management with an emphasis in archaeology. As an archaeologist, he managed cultural resource surveys and excavations on federal, state, tribal, and private lands throughout the Southwest and Great Basin. Being a professional archaeologist allowed him to work with and for a variety of government agencies and private entities. Randy continued to share his passion and love of natural spaces and public lands by working as a Grand Canyon river guide, advocating for the protection of our national parks.
Randy returned to Idaho in 2018 to begin work aimed at conserving and protecting the landscape and resources that shaped the trajectory of his life. Since joining the ICL team in 2019, Randy continues advocating for the conservation and protection of our public lands through his engagement with the BLM on district resource management plans, proposed fuel break projects, and wildlife and plant protection. Randy also represents ICL on the Boise Forest Coalition and serves on the coalition’s Steering Committee. When he’s not thumb-wrestling his wife for the oars, he enjoys fly-fishing, hiking, telemark and nordic skiing, and gardening.
